“In the last three months we pivoted in strategy in how we’re getting into trucking companies,” The Trucking Fitness Company founder Mark Manera told the 4thEst8. “We just got into our third trucking company as their corporate wellness program.”
Partners:
- Keller Logistics Group, Defiance, Ohio.
- Skelton Truck Lines, Ontario, Canada
- K and J Trucking, Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Manera says he’s got nearly 100 paying customers for his wellness app. The app tracks exercise and nutrition, offering good options for both while drivers are on the road. Through partner trucking companies Manera offers drivers discounted access to his app as a payroll deduction.
The Problem:
Truck drivers –
- die, on average, 16 years earlier than the national average
- one in seven has Type 2 Diabetes
- are eleven times more likely to die on the job than the average worker
Employers —
- higher insurance premiums
- higher worker turnover rate
- a high rate of workers compensation claims
The St. Louis company launched into a paid-Beta this spring, after getting its start in 2020. Manera says he’s a ‘solo-preneur.”
