Seventeen student-led startups out at Washington University, St. Louis Olin School of Business each landed a $1,000 grant from the Holekamp Seed Fund.

Cliff Holekamp, co-founder and managing director at Cultivation Capital, says this super-early pre-seed micro funding is about helping students develop skills rather than a firm bet on a winning team.

“We are the first check in – helping WashU students turn their ideas into actual startups,” Holekamp told bizblip. “We hope to nudge these budding entrepreneurs from inaction to action.”

This year’s startups include:

  • St. Louis Consulting Group
  • bonhome Business tools for home daycare providers.
  • Ice Cream For Bears Ice cream made with honey
  • ClosetSwitch a clothing trading app
  • Vulvopedia, a mobile application for treating women with bacterial vaginosis
