Hembal Labs CEO Joshua Dunn traveled across Missouri last week to meet with potential investors.
“We’ve recently pitched to (the) St. Louis Arch Angels group and had very positive feedback,” Dunn told bizblip. “We’ve laid everything out to them and find that as we start taking more meetings, in person, it goes a lot better than over Zoom.”
Hembal Labs is a private label life science company headquartered in Joplin, Missouri, founded in January 2020. The company specializes in the manufacturing, formulation, testing, supply chain and regulatory of all various nutritional life science products for retailers.
Dunn and his wife initially started the company with just the two of them, but have since grown to five full time employees, with plans to hire another 10 to 20 by the end of 2023. In order to remain competitive in the manufacturing space, Hembal Labs has evaluated over 100 pieces of enterprise ERP and CRM software products for manufacturing, but Dunn says those options are both expensive and come with a lot of training. Instead he uses ChatGPT and spreadsheets.
“ChatGPT has actually been an amazing tool that allows us to automate everything,” Dunn said. “We just give it the data, and it turns it out — or we could be spending $1,000 a month on software that we have a hard time using.”
