Last week alternative marketplace startup LODAS successfully conducted their first limited partner private real estate transactions on its platform.
“Everything we’ve done to date has been registered real estate funds, like REIT’s and BDS’s,” CEO Brian King told bizblip. “This is our first foray into being able to transact fully private securities, and it’s a big deal.”
King says the addressable REIT market is estimated to be around $500 billion, while the private market is closer to $12 trillion.
The startup launched in June, 2020, is headquartered in Overland Park, KS and has 10 full time employees. King says a previously announced $4.5M seed round from May of last year actually topped $5M when all was said and done. That round was led by Firebrand Ventures with KC Rise Fund participating. In 2020 the startup closed a $3.5M pre-seed round from Gary Fish and Dunn Construction.
