Baocart, an online delivery service for Asian groceries in St. Louis, has just won a Balsa Grant, a free cash grant of $1,000 and a 10 week comprehensive entrepreneur training program.
“It kind of validates the things that we‘re doing for Asian groceries in St. Louis,” Baocart CEO Samuel Hou told bizblip.
Baocart was founded in February 2023 and is currently in Alpha testing. On April 1, the company plans the launch of their website and begin their Minimally Viable Product, testing the market and taking their first orders. The grant will help the company realize their potential and introduce them to the St. Louis business ecosystem. Baocart is a small, family–run business, with only CEO Samuel Hou and his wife working part time. If the company takes off, they plan to hire by the end of the year.
The Balsa Grant is funded by the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, a public–private collaboration funded by the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, St. Louis Regional Chamber and the St. Louis Development Corporation. This grant is designed to help first–time entrepreneurs start or grow their business.
