AI help desk automation startup Capacity just acquired texting startup Textel for an undisclosed sum. Capacity has raised more than $62M, including $38M Series C in Jan. 2022.

“The Textel team, led by CEO James Diel, masterfully created a strong channel partnership with a number of the call center hardware paroviders which will be a perfect fit with the Capacity platform,” Cultivation Capital cofounder and General Partner Brian Matthews told bizblip. Cultivation is an investor in Textel. “Cultivation Capital could not be more excited about the combined opportunity.”

Textel CEO James Diel did not immediately respond to requests for an interview.

“It is a reflection of the St. Louis startup community to watch the impressive growth of Capacity… spurring on this acquisition,” TechSTL Executive Director Emily Hemingway told bizblip. “The opportunity here for entrepreneurial inovation is proven in the successes of both startups.”

Capacity was founded in 2017 by David Karandish and Chris Sims, and is headquartered in St. Louis.

Founded in 2014 Textel is headquartered in St. Louis, has “about 35 employees” and is currently hiring on Indeed. They landed a Series A in 2020 for $4 million, led by Cultivation Capital. That was preceded by a seed round of $1 million.

“By adding SMS as a channel, Capacity can now help automate support across Slack, MS Teams, Web, Mobile, Email and SMS,” Capacity CEO David Karandish said on LinkedIn. “Best of all, Textel will remain headquartered in St. Louis.”
