“To all those who have expressed concerns over the Erkios Systems intellectual property being stolen by ‘China’ – Today, we received notification that we have an official Notice of Allowance from China,” Erkios CEO Sean Null announced Monday on LinkedIn. “This means the FortiFi system is recognized by the Chinese government as a novel invention and will be protected by a patent issued from China.”

Null did not respond to requests for a timely interview, so the scope and details of any alleged patent infringement activity is unclear. The U.S. Patent and Trademark office issued Null and partner Philip Van der Straeten a patent in May, 2018 for a “port security device for computing devices and methods of operating such.”

“Honeywell has actually cited my patent in one of their recent patents,” Null told the 4thEst8 in an exchange this March. “We have also start(ed) and are upon completion of the PCT process to nationalize the patent in the EU, India and China.”
