Legislative tracking platform FastDemocracy is taking their federal and state oriented service and diving into the maelstrom of city government, starting in St. Louis. After that, they’ll start rolling out one city after another – based on a few criteria.
“Which cities are trackable from a technology standpoint, and then which cities will be an ‘add’ value for our current customers,” CEO Grant Campbell told the 4thEst8. “And which cities just have a large base of people and a lot of legislation – we certainly think it’s doable, as far as city and local governments are concerned.”
FastDemocracy tracks legislation as it moves through state and federal legislatures in an effort to make government more transparent by making it easy for voters to follow what lawmakers are doing. They have a website and an app. Their service is free for individuals and has a professional subscription for people who make their living following politics, like lobbyists and special interest groups.
The three-person startup was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in T-Rex, St. Louis.
