“About nine months ago, LinkedIn alerted me to the existence of Greenfield Robotics, a startup whose online presence said they want to ‘make farming more regenerative.’ I reached out to its CEO and founder, Clint Brauer, and very soon offered to become an angel investor in his venture,” Jerry Poole told the 4thEst8. “Then, after diving even deeper, I told Clint he should let me be President and COO. He did.”
Founded in 2017, Greenfield Robotics of Cheney, Kansas is making small, autonomous robots that roam fields to pick weeds, eliminating the need for herbicidal chemicals. The company was founded in 2017, has raised under $1 million in seed capital, and is putting its robots into it’s first customer’s fields in the spring of 2021. Its business model is that of a service, essentially contracting to keep down weeds – then moving the robots around to take care of the fields as needed. It claims a dozen employees.
“Save farmers money and effort; heal the planet; attract and hire great people,” Poole said. “We are right on course, fulfilling the potential that caught my eye a little less than one year ago.”
