Greenfield Robotics signed a deal to supply Snactivist Foods with grain sorghum harvested by its new field robot — WeedBot.

Clint Brauer, Greenfield Robotics CEO

“It brings in revenue. This year we just did it from my farm, but next year we’ll start adding other farms and other deals similar to it,” Greenfield CEO Clint Brauer told bizblip. “So it’s additional revenue for the farmer and for Greenfield and gives Snacktivist something great to tout in their already nutritious, regenerative, goods… this partnership aligns with our values of reducing chemical use with our robots, and it gets us a lot closer to the consumer.”

This spring bizblip reported Greenfields launch of WeedBot, an entirely new iteration of field robots Greenfield uses for crop weed control.

Founded in 2017, Greenfield Robotics of Cheney, Kansas is making small, autonomous robots that roam fields to cut weeds, reducing or eliminating the need for herbicidal chemicals. It’s a service that Brauer says turns weed eradication into a fixed cost for the farmer rather than variable. The company has raised $5.1M, most of that coming this June from a ‘series unknown’ round, preceded in 2021 by a pre-seed round of undisclosed volume. Identified investors include Asymmetry Ventures and the 6ixth Event. It started putting its prototype robots into it’s first customer’s fields in the spring of 2021 and claims a dozen employees.

Snacktivist Foods is a line of regenerative, plant-based baking mixes on the market, crafted to be naturally plant-based and gluten-free.
