“Many people don’t know that Healthy Hip Hop was selected to pitch on season seven of Shark Tank, and closed a deal with Kevin O’Leary (aka ‘Mr. Wonderful),” CEO Roy Scott said in a virtual release. The episode was pulled and the deal dropped, Scott says, because Disney saw his company as competition. Shark Tank airs on ABC, a Disney property. “Everything came back, full circle, and I’m excited to announce that we have been selected to pitch on the ‘Meet the Drapers’ show, which is like the Silicon Valley version of Shark Tank.”
That show is set to air Feb. 20. It can be live-streamed at DraperTV.com
Healthy Hip Hop, relaunched in 2017, is a two-person Kansas City startup with an online platform that allows educators to stream music and video content that supports their curriculum to their classroom smart board. The company also has an app that allows students to create their own content in a child-safe environment.
