The inaugural Pitches Get Stitches (and $500) pitch competition is a little over 24 hours away. Seven companies will give their two minute pitches tomorrow.
“All of these companies are winners in my book,” said TechSTL Executive Director Emily Hemingway, who, along with 4thEst8 publisher Paul Riat and ITEN Director of Entrepreneur Development Melissa Grizzle form the selection committee. “They’re all well into product development and most have some early market validation.”
The startups are:
- TimeBolt – Editing software that looks for and snips out ‘dead-air’ from long format video footage and audio, commonly used by vloggers and podcasters.
- DaHoodTalks – A podcast for the voiceless, empowering the everyday people and supporting the community in the STL area.
- Buswell BioMedical – A medical device addressing mobility issues around falling.
- NativeMSG – Making text messaging more effective for ecommerce businesses.
- Disco! – Event planning platform.
- Artopia – An NFT marketplace with decentralized onboarding and author approval for a safer experience.
- Approach Dating – A dating app that partners with venues to move connections to locations fast.
Judges include Akeem Shannon, CEO of Flipstik (who pitched to Shark Tank a couple years ago), Anjie Sanford, and Vikram Lakhwara, General Partner with Green Cow Venture Capital.
“It’s a real honor to be a judge along with Akeem and Anjie,” Lakhwara told the 4thEst8. “Pitch competitions like Pitches Get Stitches are really important to the ecosystem because they showcase and celebrate innovation.”
The Pitches Get Stitches pitch competition is preceded by networking that starts at 4:30 Tuesday at ITEN, downtown St. Louis. Pitches begin at 5:30. Click HERE to get your ticket.
