‘Get Started Omaha’ took a year off, then did a year virtually — but is BACK in a hybrid and mostly physical way on April 6.

An event spokesperson tells the 4thEst8 that the pitch competition, hosted by Husch Blackwell, has been a staple in the Midwest since 2014. This year, 30 Seed-Stage startups are headed to Omaha to compete for six $25,000 prizes — one in each of five industries, plus a people’s choice award. These companies have raised less than $1M but have traction in the market. Of course they want the money, but pitch competitions like these have value well beyond that.

Steven Coen, SaRA Health CEO

“We’re using it as a business development trip as well, visiting with the orthopedic and surgery groups to get our new functionality out there into the world,” SaRA Health CEO Steven Coen told the 4thEst8. Not that he’d turn down the money! “It would go towards marketing and business development for this new functionality: for patients, it gives them timely videos and a way to keep track of their exercises to have a better surgical outcome and for surgeons it reduces their administrative burden and increases profitability.”
