Elizabeth Gallegos, Pluton CFO

Pluton Biosciences hired Elizabeth Gallegos as it’s Chief Financial Officer, apparently replacing CFO and founder Charlie Walch — who formerly served as CEO for the startup.

In her LinkedIn bio Gallegos lists current CFO positions at two other St. Louis-based biotech startups – Plastomics, and Impetus Agriculture. All three startups are BioGenerator portfolio companies, but an early morning text to confirm a BioGenerator link was unreturned in time for this article. Pluton’s (until now, apparently) CFO (and former CEO, see ‘musical chairs’ story, below) Charlie Walch didn’t immediately return an early morning voice mail requesting comment. His LinkedIn profile still lists him as Pluton’s CFO.

“Aside from her deep domain expertise as a CFO, she also has extensive experience in agtech at both large and small companies,” said Pluton CEO Stephen Slater in a release on LinkedIn. “She’s a perfect fit for our company and our culture, and is already making a tremendous impact.”

Pluton is a microbial testing and discovery company, focused on finding unique microbes to replace synthetic chemical applications in agriculture. The startup was founded in 2017, has raised a little over $8 million, and is headquartered in the Center for Emerging Technologies in the Cortex district of St. Louis.
