Athlete feedback and training platform SportsTrace launched a new version of its software to bring coaches, trainers and organizations into the video-based application.

Max Montrey, SportsTrace CEO

“Now the athletes can provide their video… so the coaches can directly see it, comment on it, and upload their own video of the athlete on behalf of the athlete… with the security and sanctity of that organization,” CEO Max Montrey told the 4thEst8. “In fact, we are pushing out licenses to one of our customers in the St. Louis area, Rick Strickland, so that he can distribute this organization view to his players. He’s going to do upfront programming in terms of strength, conditioning, and exercise… and then he’s going to do corrective measures directly through the app… targeted specifically for the athletes under his care.”

The company launched it’s app in Beta this spring. It uses AI and user generated video to help athletes from a number of sports quickly improve their performance.

The startup launched in January, 2020 in Seattle and became a Missouri company when it won the Codefi / 1ST50K competition, landing $50K but requiring a founder to move to Cape Girardeau, Mo. It has two full time employees in the states and a part time bizdev employee in India for the cricket market.

The startup has been a darling of several accelerators, incubators and pitch competitions, taking 1st in July 2021 in the inaugural Aves Lair pitch night. It’s also taken part in the Washington Technology Industry Association’s Founder Cohort Program, GamePlanU, Sports Tech Startup Networking Group, and the College of Staten Island tech incubator. Montrey says he’s also been working with business majors at Southeast Missouri State University.
