Washington University student venture, Portal, walked away with the grand prize of $2000 at the Startup Connection Pitch Competition during Startup Week in St. Louis.
“This is our first funding… we’ve definitely been bootstrapped,” founder Brad Raizner told bizblip. “The money will go towards initiating marketing and operating costs, like domain costs and completing a minimally viable product by the end of the semester.”
Portal helps students in their career discovery process by allowing them to view hundreds of career–focused videos, most between 30 and 60 seconds long. Founded in May of 2023 and headquartered on Washington University’s campus, it is run by two full–time and three part–time employees.
The second place winner of $1000 was a company called Gaal, and third place, and a check for $500, went to Lighthouse Custom Upholstery.
