“We have almost $2000 in sales over the last four days,” MoodSpark (formerly TeleMemory) CEO Elliot Arnold told the 4thEst8 about pre-order sales made since rebranding to accomodate a consumer focus. “Our ship-date is Black Friday and we’re actively seeking distribution partners in home health, medical device distribution and assisted living.”
MoodSpark is a hardware/software combo to engage seniors with digital stories to fight cognitive decline and manage mood, something primarily done with drugs right now. 4thEst8 readers first heard about the company when it landed DelMar Gardens, a Chesterfield, Mo.-based senior living facility, as a paid ‘Alpha’ customer back in February of this year. The results from that Alpha were studied, and went into a presentation that Arnold made in late July at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Denver – for which the association gave him a certificate. He’s next presenting at the TechStars – Kansas City demo day September 2nd.
The startup was founded in June 2020 (formerly reported in error as 2019 by the 4thEst8), and is funded by Arnold from the sale of Crunch Data to Qlik, but he’s seeking more funding to accelerate product development and marketing through hiring. The Kansas City startup has three full time workers and an intern right now. CrunchBase claims the startup has raised a total of $320,000 from a pre-seed round in 2020 and a funding round this June led by TechStars Kansas City Accelerator and McGivern Capital (presumably on top of the $250K Arnold told the 4thEst8 he put into the company at its launch.)
