Nikolay Zudin, FoodHaven COO

1st50K 2021 cohort member Food Haven had a launch party in Cape Girardeau last week.

“We launched our service and already got a couple-three restaurants on board and started marketing our services to students,” COO Nikolay Zudin told the 4thEst8. What’s next? “We need to go to our target audience and watch the numbers. Focus on the user side.”

The startup is a surplus food marketplace app connecting restaurants with diners who want a deal on good food. The two sided marketplace addresses the issue of food waste restaurants face when they buy stock that doesn’t sell like they thought it would. In September the 4thEst8 reported how the startup landed $50,000 in non-dilutive cash and inclusion in the 1st50K startup accelerator in Cape Girardeau.

1ST50K is a partnership of Codefi with the Missouri Technology Corporation, and is supported by other public and private entities (banks, chambers, city government). In the Spring of 2020, MTC selected 1ST50K as an award recipient for their highly competitive grant competition, Missouri Building Entrepreneurial Capacity. The award is matched dollar for dollar by local, private donations to support the project, and the award provides a regional focus to 1ST50K as well as support to launch 1ST50K in partnership with Southeast Missouri State University.
