Challenged with launching a viable startup in 54 hours, participants in the Columbia, MO Startup Weekend have been feverishly working on their projects since Friday afternoon… and the Sunday evening judging is only a few hours away. Team ‘Appreciate’ focuses on real estate rental properties for individual investors.

“The problem is that most software platforms today talk about property economics and not unit economics,” said Michael Lamb product conceptualization for Appreciate. “We give independent landlords an understanding of which of their tenants are the most profitable and which are marginal based on real data, tied to individual units.”

Team Appreciate believes that many landlords base decisions about their tenants based on emotions and bias rather than real data. They may have data on a building but not on a specific apartment.

“This is the original idea, we changed the name but did not pivot,” said Lamb. “The original name was Rentable, we figured that wasn’t speaking to the landlord, and we are landlord centric.”
